Have you ever had an experience where, in one moment, you just knew you were in the right place doing the right thing?
A few years ago, I was walking up to the podium to deliver my very first sermon.
I had worked really hard preparing for the moment, but I still had no idea what it would be like. I was going to tell one of my life’s most pivotal stories. I was going to be speaking to a congregation that expected a pretty high-level spiritual message each week.
As my feet approached the step up to the microphone, I had that feeling… THIS is what I am meant to do. I talked to the 60 or so people gathered on that Sunday morning and felt more comfortable in my own skin, expressing myself in public, than I ever had before.
There were a lot of little steps and inspiring nudges which had come before that moment to clue me in. Those little “postcards” that come through a life experience where you feel so good about the path you are on. It doesn’t have to be a significant moment at all. Often it is not.
If you pay attention to those moments in which you get lost in what you are doing and just want to do it all day, I guarantee you will have your own clues. They will lead you to your joyous self-expression, just like mine. What I learned, in that one moment, was to keep going on the path following those clues, the path of my heart.
About nine months after that first sermon, I enrolled in an Interfaith Seminary and a year ago I was ordained. I’m not going to tell you that it has all been easy. Much of it was outside my comfort zone. There were moments of frustration, overwhelm and defeat.
I never doubted my path, though, and there were also moments of such great fulfillment that continue to this day. That feeling I had delivering my first sermon is the one I count on to let me know that I am on the right path. What I call the Feminine Path of Success.
I look forward to hearing your stories of travelling your own path.
